Chris Forbes

b. 1976, Harrisburg, PA

Artist. Photographer. Writer.

Chris attended Tyler School of Art at Temple University and received his B.F.A. in photography with a minor in art history. During college, Chris participated in several group exhibitions that took his artwork and creative vision from Philadelphia to Rome, Italy where he lived for a year. While living abroad, Chris continued his studies in photography as well as sculpture, drawing, and Italian cinema.

In 1998 he had his first solo exhibition in Philadelphia. The images from that show caught the attention of the Guggenheim Museum and secured him a spot in a national group exhibition.

Following graduation, Chris took a position as an Artist in Residence and Lab Technician at Harrisburg Area Community College. Shortly after his residency, Chris relocated to the West Coast and began doing freelance photography and contributing work to Spunk Arts Magazine out of New York City.

In the summer of 2005, “Auto-Inhabitancy,” his second solo exhibition opened in Harrisburg, PA. Forever the consummate artist, Chris constantly seeks out new artistic venues and collaborative efforts with fellow artists and performers. His photographs have been published in several books and magazines, both international and national, including Photographer's Forum (USA), YGA (USA), SPOT (Mexico), and Vogue Nippon (Japan).

Chris is currently living in San Francisco.
